“Courage is bravery in the face of fear. You do the right thing even when it is hard or scary. When you are courageous, you don’t give up. You try new things. You admit mistakes. Courage is the strength in your heart.”
I love that this says that “Courage is the strength in your heart” and the “Bravery in the face of fear”~ and I think also the trust and the faith that is required to know that when you move in a courageous way there is usually great growth and expansion on the other side of whatever is coming up that you need to have courage about.
While were on the subject, and because fear is usually present whenever courage is needed… I just want to talk about fear for a minute. A great teacher of mine once told me that the “feeling” that we get in our gut when we have fear – you know; the butterflies, nausea, rock in the belly, etc.- whatever that might be for you- It is ACTUALLY energy flowing inside of the body. We’ve been taught to shrink when we feel this “feeling” because we’ve named it fear and we think that its a bad or a scary “feeling” The TRUTH is that it was incorrectly named, that “feeling” is the energy in our body that is moving and it is actually telling us that we are getting ready to GROW! Whether it’s something you’ve never done before, a new career, a new relationship, a new experience, a big conversation- what ever it is, it is actually expanding us, expanding our capacity, growing our understanding or our consciousness.
How different would we operate if when we felt that feeling, we would lean into it? What if we got excited when we felt that feeling because we knew that we were getting ready to move beyond our little box of comfort? Just a small shift in perspective and we might decide that we like that feeling and want have more of it!
It could be a year of miracles and breakthroughs!
